The first example of this renewal arises in the context of the crisis of the dominant discourse on art and its basic budgets: the so-called postmodern condition, and it was constituted by the volume I group, which brought together the protagonists of the first visible attempt of Transgression towards the bases of a cultural behavior tendentious to the social order and the stereotyped romantic-idealized representation of the heroes, the feats, the history, etcetera. Along with the remains of the well-known political leader and Cuban-Argentinian communist ruler are those of 29 companions who died next to him in 1967 during the armed uprising in Bolivia. The bronze statue measures 22 feet and was designed to pay tribute to the notable leader. The area is known as the sculptural complex Ernesto Guevara and contains a flame that remains constantly lit, known as «The Eternal Flame», which was ignited by Cuban President Fidel Castro Ruz on October 17, 1997, at which time they performed the military honors that gave way to the tomb of the exhumed remains of Che. The city of Santa Clara was chosen as a place for the construction of the monument in memory of the takeover of the city, led by the hero in 1968, which constituted the decisive confrontation for the triumph of the Cuban revolution. Near the place, remain the remains of an armored train that Che himself derailed to prevent supplies of weapons arrived to enemy troops.

Architecture and Urbanism

Unlike other regions of the world, where the constructive fever and the run for heights became the fashionable tendency, for Cuba it was totally different. The most important and populated cities, including the capital, Havana, maintained intact many of their representative buildings. They show different styles, coming from the middle age up to the present time. Such as mudejar, neoclassical, art deco, rationalism, and modern architecture. The urban layout has characteristics from the colonial system, which begins with the port as the starting point, then followed by the central plazas surrounded by main points of commerce and finally the squared system that is commonly used all around the world.

20th May: Cuba Independence Day

At May 11, 2017

The week of Cuba independence day commemorates 115 years of the proclamation of the Republic of Cuba, when the people of Havana approached the bay to contemplate how the Cuban flag was hoisted for the first time in «La Fortaleza de los Tres Reyes del Morro”.

It was not until May 20, 1902 when Cuba was recognized as an independent nation and when Tomás Estrada Palma was sworn in as the first president. That same day the American flag was lowered to raise for the first time the Cuban flag.

On this day the American troops began to back out and the power was transferred to the first president-elect Tomas Estrada Palma, thus fulfilling the greatest aspiration of the Cuban people to embark on the road to democracy. If you decide to rent a villa in Cuba you will be able to breathe its history in any corner of the island.
